Display header image and header widget inline

      I’d like to display the header image and a header-area widget inline-block style, side by side, in the same height header space.

      I feel this should be possible using css, but I’ve simply missed the proper combination. When I enable a widget in the header widget area, it jumps above or below my header image. I’ve tried adjusting css of various header items to control positioning. I’ve tried enclosing the header image and header widget in a pair of divs, and creating a css property to display those divs inline-block. I’ve tried controlling the width of the header image both manually (creating an image of a certain width) and in the functions.php file. When I reduce width of the header image, or restrict the width in functions.php, it breaks the page layout, shrinking navigation and pulling the header widget area to the left. I have tried using a z-index to superimpose the header widget on the right-hand section of the header image. (So far, no luck.)

      Help! What technique can I use to cause a header image and header widget to co-exist side-by-side? Thanks!

      Well, I solved it – I set the positioning of the header widget area (#sidebar-header) to absolute, and positioned it exactly where I wanted it. Silly me – I was making it too hard!

      Great theme; the narrow sidebars and wide content area let the content speak, rather than overwhelming the content with layout elements.
