But what I would like to do is add few categories to theme. And then instead of hard-coding, I want to control at the options page so that I can change directory any time I want. (I am tweaking the theme so that it look like Newspaper Theme with more categories)

I tried to follow this tutorial http://dev.onedesigns.com/tutorials/how-to-create-a-wordpress-theme-options-page but that did not work for me.
