I’ve just come across an interesting problem. Have been trying to resolve it myself but have run out of ideas.
Every post excerpt in my blog contains Like/Dislike buttons that I put there for blog visitors to rank websites that I have listed. These Like/Dislike buttons are based on a shortcode that makes them to be displayed and also on a page load it makes buttons to call their server to update number of “Likes” per button that need to be shown and so on.
I’m planning to have around 30 posts [post excerpts] and almost every one will have these buttons.
Looks like I have reached page No2 with a post No12 because after No11 it starts loading posts from a second page [so in my case 11 posts represent the first page and posts No12 is placed on a second page].
1] When I use Infinite Scroll and a user reaches the last row of posts the second page is automatically loaded. But the problem here is it loads posts from the second page but somehow they are not loaded the same way as when the page is refreshed or when page no1 is first time loaded.
In my case all buttons on posts from page 2 can not get updates from their server.
2] I thought – Ok, I will fix it by switching to AJAX post pagination [static link option I wouldn’t like to use because it visually splits everything into pages, and I would prefer to have everything visually on one page].
But what Ajax does [after clicking next page at the bottom] – it displays posts from page 2 not as added ones to the bottom but at the very top of the page, mixed with already published posts. I can prepare this case and show you if you want to see what do I mean.
3] But I still didn’t want to give up and an idea crossed my mind – what if I make all posts sticky. I thought that would force all posts to appear at once and I would avoid probs with Infinite Scroll [please see item 1 above]. But in fact what it’s doing – it does load all sticky posts when the page is opened but then, when a user reaches the bottom of a page [on Infinite Scroll] it will load posts from page No2 again which will duplicate the postsI’ll be more than happy to provide more info, screenshots and point you to the site to have a look.
I can see 2 solutions:
Either for on Infinite Scroll to load next page exactly the same way as how the original first page is loaded [somehow the page loading is different]; or I can keep on using “Sticky” posts but I will need to disable loading of pages by Infinite Scroll because it simply duplicates everything.

The FB buttons probably don’t work because they need a JavaScript callback in the infinite scroll complete function. It’s just a guess and if you know your way around with JS you can try it.

🙂1] Am very happy that I’ve found a bug. Are you planning to release the fix soon and if you do, does Pinboard have an update indication in WP? Just don’t want to miss it in case you release it.
2] With this Infinite Scroll, would it be possible to make a page length longer? It might take time till I find anyone who can help me with JS, making a page longer would easily solve a problem
3] Daniel, what about the sticky posts? Is it a bug too? That could have been my another solution but posts are duplicating. Just to outline what it’s doing – if a post is a Sticky post but is on a second page – Pinboard will load it with a first page but then when you scroll down and hit a second page – it will get loaded again making it a duplicate to the first one.Thanks again,
