      I was just wondering if there was a way to prevent posts from certain categories showing up in the headlines area – there’s only two categories so far I don’t want showing and that’s Letters to the Staff posts and The Staff posts as they’re meant to be more ‘hidden’ and accessible through additional links. Is there anyway of doing this?

      You can exclude categories by adding the parameter 'cat=-4,-5' to query_posts.
      Replace the numbers with the IDs of the categories you wish to exclude and add a – sign before them.
