    Thanks to much support from this forum and especially Alexander, I’m pretty happy with mine now. Still a couple of outstanding support issues I’d like to see Daniel address, but I’m living with them.

    If you post as an image post format, the excepts on the grid will use the image (as if it were a featured image). The problem with this, though, is that clicking on the image on the excerpt won’t go to the post. It will open the image in a lightbox.

    You can change the date of the sticky image posts to make them hide deep in your archives.

    Also, instead of creating a blog page to show only one category, why not create a category page on the menu? It will be the default blog style in function, the only thing is that there’s a bar at the top saying “now browsing category Whatever”. But that’s easy to remove in CSS.

    Same problem here. When using the image post format, clicking on the image (when viewing an excerpt on a pinboard style page) will cause the image to open up in a lightbox rather than going to the post itself. To make matters worse, if you have several image posts on a page, all of those images will open in that lightbox.

    Needless to say, I do not want this. How can I disable this function?

    The only reason I am using an image post format instead of standard is because the image I am using isn’t hosted on my site. It’s hosted elsewhere and therefore can’t be used as a featured image. Without a featured image, there is no image showing on the except on a pinboard style page.

    This is also a problem for the gallery style post. The thumbnail for the gallery posts only uses three images. Clicking on it gives a lightbox of those three images only, rather than going to the gallery post itself.

    I just followed the advice that Daniel gave above. It’s not user-friendly because you’re hacking into the site code, not just modifying the CSS. You have to know your way around php a bit. Do just what he said. Go to content-*.php in the editor and find the one place where it says “the_excerpt();”. Replace that with the code he provided above. A hint, it’s in the section called div class=”entry-summary” in the content-*.php file. And of course, please remember that any updates to the theme will overwrite any changes you make to the php and you’ll have to do them again.

    In case anyone else is having this trouble, I’ve figured part of it out. To summarize, I’ve hacked the php so that the first two of my home page posts are full posts, the rest of them being the pinboard style excerpts. However, I found that as I added more posts and the page got longer, some of them would be full posts.

    What I mean is that there would be two full posts…then a bunch of excerpts…then three full posts…then more excerpts.

    That property seems to be controlled by the setting Appearance -> Theme Options -> Blog Pages. Set the “Full posts to display before grid” to zero. That removes those three full posts that were showing up further down the page.

    @skiddysmith, thank you so much for the kind words about my website! That was sure nice to read. You know how discouraging it can be when you’re first setting one up and not getting many hits or feedback yet.

    As for the fonts issue, no, I’ve never seen an answer for it. I have modified my CSS a bit and have put in a couple php hacks, but nothing that should affect this font issue. In fact, my husband (who is also a developer) tried out a clean, fresh install of this theme in a sandbox (he was testing it for one of his sites) and the fonts wouldn’t change properly on that install either. So I have no idea why it’s working perfectly for Daniel and not for the rest of us.

    Also, as Kitsune pointed out, the formatting is stripped when we do this. He has pointed out a workaround, but do you have a better one that doesn’t mess with the margins?

    You have to make them sticky AND set the image as a feature image for them to show up on the slider.

    You’d use the whole URL. It’s the address that points to the file on your server. If you only use part of the URL, you’ll get an error. (btw, when I click on your image URL I get an error. Try your URL just by itself in the browser, does it work for you? Check that first.)

    The 296×446 in the URL is not really a dimension, it’s the name of the file, so that’s not where you change the size of the picture. If you want to make the picture smaller then you’d specify the dimensions in the HTML (see the code I posted above). But you’ll have to pick numbers in the same ratio as 296/446 so that your picture doesn’t distort.

    Or, change your picture to the size you want in a photo editor, then upload to your site.

    You have to use the “Sidebar Top” widget area because it’s full width. Sidebar Right and Sidebar Left are half width.

    Use a text widget and insert basic HTML to call up your picture.

    An example:

    <a href=”target link here”>
    <img border=”0″ src=”url of image” alt=”alt text” width=”32″ height=”32″ />
    </a>

    Just fill in the appropriate information. The width and height of the image, of course, can be set here, experiment to see what’s optimal on your site. Of course, keep the ratio of the dimensions the same or you’ll distort your picture.

    If your image is in the media library (as opposed to being hosted elsewhere), then get the URL of the photo from the properties of the media item itself.
