I have mine working in the new version at my site:

And some of the solutions crashed my site. So how about just adding this functionality to a future update of the theme?

One way I’ve seen other themes do this is to create two separate header graphics: a header background graphic and then your logo graphic. This way the theme makes the logo graphic a link back to the home page thus if you’re deep in the site you can just click the site logo to immediately go back to the home page. Sure you could just click the home menu button but it’s nice to be able to click the website’s logo as well. Here’s a website using a different theme which allows me to upload a header background and header logo:

I did this to two of my websites and it looks great. Check them out here:

I\’d like to do some of those things too. I’d especially like to control how popular posts work. I did manage to change the location of things and add new categories to the homepage at my site [url=http://2012quest.com]2012Quest.com[/url] I just went into the editor, studied how things worked, and started making changes, check out the result, then fixed it until it did what I wanted it to do.

Go to your Dashboard. In the left sidebar find the section called Appearance. Click on it and it opens up to reveal more options. Click on Editor. This takes you to the Edit Themes page. Running down the right side of the screen will be a list of files under the heading Templates. This is where you will find comments.php. Just click on it, make your changes and save those changes.
You can use this area to customize all sorts of things about your site. For instance, at my site [url=http://therealmayanprophecies.com]TheRealMayanProphecies.com[/url] I added a featured article slider at the top of my homepage. The more you learn about how wordpress works, the more you can customize your themes for your own purpose.

This is where you can choose to make the post sticky which will permanently stick the post to your home page in a new box called “Announcements” which will be immediately above the Headline box. If you don’t have any sticky posts, the Announcements box doesn’t show up. You can see an example of what this looks like on my website:
[url=http://therealmayanprophecies.com]http://www.TheRealMayanProphecies.com[/url]
What I would like is some way to make the thumbnail image in the Announcements box smaller so the Announcements box doesn’t take up so much real estate on the home page. I would prefer it to be a narrow box…not the same size box as my Headline. Any ideas how to do this? Seems like it could be accomplished with custom CSS but I’m not sure.

I just spent three hours on something that now seems so obvious! haha. Amazing how one little number added to the id name can make all the difference.

So I contact the plugin maker and they told me the problem was in the style.css and that I needed to remove this bit of code:
#featured
{
float:left;
width:280px;
margin:0 0 10px 10px;
padding:10px;
border:#daccb0 1px solid;
background:#f4f1e9 url(images/list.png) top no-repeat;
overflow:hidden;
}But when I removed this code the Featured content box changed location and size. Basically it moved up under the Headline box and the width changed to match the Headline box.
So is it not possible to have two content areas named Featured on the home page. Because it looks like the css is limiting BOTH the Featured Content Gallery at the top and the Featured block below the Headline block to a maximum 280 px.
Can I change the Featured block into a News block and show articles in the category News, instead?

I placed it immediately before
<div id=”headline”> in the Home.php file. Yet no matter how large I make the gallery size in the plugin settings, it refuses to fill the entire space. Here’s a link to my site: [url=http://www.2012Quest.com]http://www.2012Quest.com[/url]Obviously I need to insert the plugin code somewhere else. I tried inserting it within the <div id=”headline”> </div> section but that didn’t work out too well either.
Confused. :/

I’ve decided to use the Featured Content Gallery plugin. It solves my problem perfectly. The instructions require placing a line of code in the theme where you want the gallery to show up. I would like the gallery to show up immediately above the Headline section of the Home page. Where in the code would I post it to accomplish this? Here’s the code:
<?php include (ABSPATH . ‘/wp-content/plugins/featured-content-gallery/gallery.php’); ?>

Actually, it would be nicer if you switched the positions of the Headlines and the Featured sections. I would prefer the FEATURED section on top where HEADLINES currently resides. And then it would be great if the FEATURED section could cycle through 3-5 posts.
It would also be nice if you could add a custom logo graphic over the custom header background graphic. Right now you have to create a header background that includes your logo. The Swift Theme (above) lets you have a custom header background and a custom logo. Saves a lot of time in photoshop! ๐
