    amongstit, did you get this sorted? Here is what I do to have posts images show up in the home page slider.

    First, go to Appearance -> Theme Options, and under Home Page View choose Gallery.

    Second, when editing your post, under Format choose Standard (there are heaps of options that I have not explored yet, but I know this one works beautifully!).

    Third, when editing your post, upload your chosen image under Featured Image.

    This worked for me, so I hope I have done it properly and it will work for you too.

    Not to worry Daniel – I got this sorted using a plugin called [url=http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/frontpage-category-filter/]Frontpage category filter[/url]. It allowed me to create a new category for the four posts I wanted to have permanently on my home page slider, and it works beautifully.

    Another way to do it is use a plugin called [url=http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/frontpage-category-filter/]Frontpage category filter[/url]. After installing it, all you have to do is go to the plugin settings and uncheck your Messages category, and those posts would no longer show up on the front page. Hope that helps!

    I used a plugin as well, called “Frontpage category filter”. I created a new category called ‘Front page’ (pretty inspired eh!), changed the four posts I wanted on my front page slider to that category, unchecked the other categories on the plugin settings page, and ta da!     ak_web, you are a genius! What a simple solution! Worked perfectly on my site, so that now only the title of each post is showing on my home page slider images. (Note that you have to use this fix on each individual post in your slider.)

    Hey there , dkjade. In short, press Alt+Shift+T before the text starts in your post (that is, as the very first thing in your post editor). It inserts a line (or <div><!–more–></div> in HMTL view) which stops the extract at that point.

    I haven’t tried it part-way into the text of my post, but it might be worth a try if you want a particular extract on your slider image. Hope it works for you!
