      I replaced the lightbox with fancybox for exactly that reason.

      1) download/install fancybox
      2) keep the “lightbox” option checked in your theme appearance
      3) see here for how it is done:

      Hi Daniel,
      this works. I modified the colorbox call in two instances to this to call fancybox:

      $(‘.entry-content a[href$=”.jpg”],.entry-content a[href$=”.jpeg”],.entry-content a[href$=”.png”],.entry-content a[href$=”.gif”],a.colorbox’).fancybox();

      What confuses me though is the fact that now some CSS of fancybox seems to be overwritten with the included lightbox code… e.g. the title of a photo does not appear in the fancybox style white extended border below the image, but in a “button style” , well, button – which I actually like πŸ™‚ So, just curiosity at this point.

      It would be great, if you would include in future revs. of the theme an option for an alternative viewer – or include fancybox. Your theme lives of the flexibility, however, the advantage of fancybox is that large view images are displayed matching the size of the visible browser window (large window – large image, small window – small image), a feature the built in lightbox does not offer (and the only reason why I wanted to get fancybox working).

      I think the theme readme file suggested an upload width of 1150pixel for images that are going to be used as “sticky” posts.
      It looks like the thumbnails for you page need to be at least 700px wide for the theme to scale them properly…

      1) create a main category for all portfolio posts (POSTS/CATEGORIES, add new category (e.g. Portfolio) with no parent category)
      2) mark images/posts that I want to show in the portfolio with category “Portfolio” (POST/ALL POSTS/EDIT POST).
      3) create categories for the posts/images shown in the portfolio (POSTS/CATEGORIES, add new category with parent category (!!!!), e.g. Portfolio

      hm…. I am clearly missing the trick here…. when I chose “standard” image, I get a landscape style thumbnail (320 px) of a portrait photo. when I chose “portfolio” style image, I get the full image displayed in the thumb. however, the displayed image is narrower than 320px. So, I am missing the right button to tell the theme do display portrait size thumbs in the theme width of 320 px. Do I make sense?

      OK, if you look at the “astronomical clock” the post thumbnail is in portrait mode and has the same width as the image thumbnail (332 or so pixel).
      When I post a portrait mode image, the post thumbnail is a lot larger (wider) than the image (almost landscape size) itself. How do I get the post thumbnail to match the aspect ratio of the posted image?

      I KNOW – the golden rule is GOLDEN – sometimes I just get carried away πŸ™‚ sorry πŸ˜€

      you seem to have the opposite problem of what most folks here have…
      My educated guess would be:

      Go to SETTINGS/READING
      select under FRONT PAGE DISPLAYS “A static page”, select there you landing page. That should do it….

      duuuuh! The slider displays on the WP home page. you just have to move this page to your menu, name it home and voila – it will look like the demo.
      The slider will not work with any other additionally created blog page.

      @paint guy: you make the post “sticky” here:
      go to “all posts”, select the post you want to be sticky, click “edit” – on the right hand side of the screen in the “publish” box, select “edit visibility” – the menu will expand and there you can mark it as sticky.

      But, if someone could help me figuring out, how to have the slider with sticky posts on my blog/home page, I really would appreciate it. this is confusing as hell. I just don’t get it done… strangely I get it to wok on any other page….
