In functions.php under the theme folder, change the “add_image_size” sizes for thumbnails from 700 to whatever you’d like the sizes to be. I changed mine to 950, which is the max size of the images I upload, and they’re displaying in full how I’d like them to display even with my custom css.
So nice to finally have this fixed and not just rigged!

After a year, I’ve figured it out.

I deleted the original 700×466 files and renamed my originals to look like 700×466 – they look great, but it’s still a really undesirable fix.
A few of the posts properly used the originals after the alternate files were deleted, but that’s not the case any longer (I’m simply given a broken image box in that case.)

Under theme layout, choose “no sidebars”.
Under custom CSS, copy and paste this:
.page-template-template-no-sidebars-php #wrapper,
.page-template-template-blog-no-sidebars-php #wrapper,
.page-template-template-portfolio-no-sidebars-php #wrapper {max-width:1000px;}The “max width” can be put to whatever size you’d like. I kept it at 1000 and Pinboard is properly putting in my full-size images.
Bonus addition – it’s also working properly with Firefox, unlike the “full-width” option!

The messed-up image size happens in all browsers, but Firefox isn’t displaying the full width properly – the box stays the same size and the image is cut off on the right.
Secondary (and unrelated) question – is there any way to make clicking on the image take a user to the full-size/comment page instead of the individual image file?

Anyone have luck on a quick fix? Are there any plans to fix this behavior? My site would look *so* much better at full width, but I’m stuck wasting space on both sides because it’s too much extra work to re-upload every single photo.
